Set against the backdrop of the tranquil waters surrounding the island, the Sigavou Chapel is a class above the rest. With glass walls and the magnificent architecture built into its structure, couples now have a wedding chapel they can boast about. The chapel is open for weddings for anyone, whether you are from Japan, the United States, Europe or Tavua in Fiji. There are no religious barriers on who can get married on Treasure Island as the company can arrange either a priest, preacher, reverend or pundit to perform the marriage rites. According to tourism industry sources, close to a 1000 marriages of couples from overseas take place each year at one of the many resorts in Fiji. The Sigavou Chapel was opened Saturday 26th April, 2003 by the head of the Methodist Church Vuda Circuit Reverend Ifereimi Naruma. Costing close to $220,000, the chapel is situated on the east beach, looking directly to Bounty Island. The surrounding glass wall provides the couples with panoramic views through the 10.3mm thick hurricane proof glass of the Pacific Ocean. The flying roof of the chapel consists of steel pillars tied into foundations of 1.2 metres concrete slabs. The Belfry sound system and acoustics adds to the exquisite surroundings of the interior decorations. The inside flooring has white marble tiles, a glass walkway leading up to the altar and can sit up to 25 guests.
